Here for your consideration is a rare
slice of liddicoatite tourmaline. Liddicoatite is named after Richard
T. Liddicoat, the "father of modern
gemology" and one of the people responsible for making the GIA what it
is today. What makes this tourmaline liddicoatite is that it is
calcium rich. This slice is from Madagascar. It was cut from an
alluvial
crystal and retains its natural shape. This liddicoatite forms with
triangles in the center.
This
slice measures 3/4 in X 5/8 in. This is a beautiful slice. The
outside is green followed by different shades of green, with
a green triangle in the middle and a rosy pink mercedes marking over
the center.
